AUGUSTA, Ga. — A star-studded leaderboard and patron-filled course have the 2022 Masters already reaching a fever pitch with Round 2 action underway Friday. Sungjae Im topped the leaderboard after 18 holes but has not separated himself from the pack with his second round near completion. This as the top groups in the afternoon session are hitting Augusta National looking to make a move before the cutline is announced in the early evening.
As one would expect, it’s Tiger Woods who is drawing most of the air out of the atmosphere at Augusta. Playing his first event in 17 months — and just 14 months removed from nearly losing his leg — Woods shot the most remarkable 71 in Masters history to sit T11 and just four shots back of Im. Tiger is not only likely to make the cut barring disaster Friday, he may well be in contention to win his sixth green jacket entering the weekend. Woods is now on the course attempting to do just that. All of it makes for a must-watch second round that should be thrilling from sunrise to sunset on Friday.

World No. 1 takes strangehold of lead
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler with birdies at 12 and 13 to move to 6 under on the week and 3 under on the round. He’s now three clear of the rest of the field. Hasn’t had anything par or worse on his scorecard since a bogey at the par-4 third.

Tiger making late push, finishing strong
The weekend cut line is looking like it will be 4 over for this Masters Tournament.
It’s also looking more and more like for Tiger, the cut line doesn’t matter.
After opening his round with four bogeys in his first five holes, Woods has stabilized as the day has worn on. He made the turn with a 3-over 39 and is playing the second nine at 1 under through five, with two birdies on 13 and 14 helping to make his final stretch run a little more worry-free.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler might be the quietest leader of the week at Augusta National. Just birdied No. 8 to grab the outright lead from Charl Schwartzel and Sungjae Im, both of whom are in the clubhouse. Scheffler still has more than a half-round left. Can he post a number everyone must chase on Moving Day?
