Battlefield 2042 players are expressing how much they have loved the Rush game mode since it was brought into the game, with some even wanting it to stay permanently.
Battlefield 2042 wasn’t exactly the most well-received game when it was released back in November. Unfortunately, players reported many issues with the game, feeling as if it had actually taken a step back from previous releases.
Many have complained about the map design and how long it takes to get to the action and objectives. With the recent introduction of Rush, players have been enjoying the Battlefield 2042 experience much more.
Rush is a much smaller game mode compared to what Battlefield 2042 usually offers. Smaller teams mean better frame rates for those with less powerful machines and also smaller maps mean players can find others without having to run around for ages.
The mode is only available for a limited time on Battlefield 2042, but due to its success, it has been extended for another week. Although it’s great that players will be able to enjoy it for another week, some feel it should be a permanent game mode, enjoying it much more than the other game modes.
Reddit user megaquest is one of the players in the community asking for the developers to consider making Rush a permanent game mode for Battlefield 2042.
In their post, they state that they “don’t want to go back to the 128p modes,” and even plead the devs to make the mode permanent: “please DICE make it permanent or even better, add it to All out Warfare!”
Further, they aren’t the only players who feel Rush has been a breath of fresh air, as user iBanditss2 put a similar post up with the caption: “2042 Rush is fun as hell.”
In their post, they also state how much fun Rush has been compared to the other larger modes, focussing on the performance side of things: “Higher framerate on rush also makes the game 15x more enjoyable because Battlefield movement and aiming is smooth and not having good framerate genuinely sucks the enjoyment out of the movement system.”
These two posts have both received over 700 upvotes on the Battlefield 2042 subreddit, which is no doubt an indication that Rush has been a success and that the devs should be thinking about adding it permanently, especially after all the backlash and controversy over the game’s poor launch state.
We’ll have to wait and see how the devs respond to this feedback from the community. For now, make sure you hop on and enjoy Rush as much as possible before it is removed.

A Battlefield dev has responded to complaints about aim assist issues that were supposedly addressed in the 3.1 update patch notes.

The 3.1 update for Battlefield 2042 said that it would make aim assist “more consistent during console gameplay”. However, players are disputing this, and a BF 2042 dev has issued a response to the game’s aim assist.
The ongoing war between console and PC players will never end as either side wages war using controllers and mouse and keyboards. It’s a fact that a mouse is more accurate than a controller, and such, aim assist is a necessity to even things up.
Battlefield 2042 has had a rocky launch that has been shrouded in bugs and problems. From a game-breaking invisibility glitch to the infamous “unable to load persistence data” error, BF 2042 had had to be patched several times to deal with many lingering problems.
The game has already received several hefty patches to fix the game, and 3.1 was the newest attempt to clamp down on its bugs. However, one of the promised aspects of the update doesn’t appear to have been completely effective.
Under the ‘General’ section of ‘Fixes, Changes, and Improvements,’ in the patch notes, one bullet point quite simply said: “Made improvements to ensure Aim Assist is more consistent during console gameplay.”
However, the Lead Game Designer for DICE was questioned about the game’s aim assist following the update. One user said: “Hi there, can you provide more info on how aim assist was improved in 3.1? because I’m seeing very little difference.”
They continued: “Supposedly it was addressed in 3.1 according to the patch notes. I am noticing some assist but it’s VERY sporadic.”
The dev replied to say: “It has been slightly adjusted but it doesn’t really make aim assist work well so it might not really look like it “got better” with this update. We’re still working on that though.”
So it seems like a proper fix for aim assist won’t be coming anytime soon, which will be to the disappointment of many console players.
The only real solution for the time being for users that are frustrated by the lack of aim assist would be to turn crossplay so that they’re only matched with other console players. We’ll see if DICE decides to increase the strength of aim assist anytime soon.

Battlefield 2042 devs DICE are releasing a follow-up to the huge patch that arrived on December 2. This patch on December 9 will fix major bugs and issues with hit registration amongst other things. Here are the full update #3.1 patch notes.
Battlefield 2042 hasn’t enjoyed the smoothest of launches. Fans of the franchise have been displeased with the bug-filled Battlefield experience thus far. Fortunately, DICE have been putting together a patch that is set to fix a lot of the current issues within the game.
December 2’s update #3 was just the beginning of a major update making its way to Battlefield 2042. Therefore, December 9’s update is set to expand on the update that went live just a week ago.
Battlefield 2042 Update #3.1 release time
Battlefield 2042’s Update #3.1 will go live at 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET / 8 AM GMT on December 9, 2021.
Although an official release time has yet to be revealed, it is customary for updates to go live at 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET / 8 AM GMT.
Battlefield 2042 improvement to hit registration
Hit registration has been one of the most widespread concerns from the Battlefield 2042 community. The devs took their first step towards fixing the issues in Update #3. With #3.1 DICE continues to tweak this issue.
They confirmed that they have issued “improvements to bullets hit registration consistency and balance changes for bullet dispersion and recoil.”
Bug fixes coming to Battlefield 2024
In addition to weapon and vehicle balancing, DICE has made a point to eliminate annoying bugs from Battlefield 2042.
Thanks to the #3.1 update players will no longer experience the frustration of battling invisible enemies. Although this was a rare bug, there’s no place for it in the game. Bugs related to Grenades and Launchers have also been adjusted.
Quality of life improvement in Battlfield 2042
It seems as though DICE is looking to make the game more enjoyable for players by offering some much-needed aesthetic improvements.
The first of these comes in the form of audio enhancements. This patch will bring forth “Multiple audio improvements to enhance your overall sound experience, focused on clarity, distance and directional perception”. Better audio quality should result in a better gaming experience.
Players can also expect menu improvements that will allow Xbox players to opt-out of Cross-play quicker.

- Players that are not the Party Leader can now cancel while waiting in a queue
- Xbox – Cross-Play can now be enabled/disabled in the Options menu on Xbox
- Your Sort settings will now be correctly remembered when refreshing the Battlefield: Portal Server Browser
- Fixed an issue where loadouts would sometimes be empty on the spawn screen after joining a server, preventing weapon selection
- Made improvements to ensure Aim Assist is more consistent during console gameplay
- Ranger’s effective combat range and overall health has been decreased
- Made various tweaks to the overall audio experience to improve clarity, distance, and directional perception
- Fixed an issue where soldiers would not always play indoor specific footsteps
- Removed bounce from Underbarrel Grenades when firing at short distances
- 40mm AP Grenades now properly damage vehicles
- Fixed some weapons displaying wrong ammo counts for specific magazines
- DXR-1 and NTW-50 Bolt Action rifles reload animation increased by 0.2 seconds
- Adjusted dispersion values for most weapons, which results in a faster dispersion decrease when tap firing or doing short bursts
- Adjusted dispersion increases for most weapons. It now takes slightly longer for weapons to become overly inaccurate in sustained fire
- Adjusted the recoil values to prevent over aggressive recoil jumps for the AK24, LCMG, PKP-BP, SFAR-M GL, and PP-29
- Improved hip fire accuracy for all SMGs to make them better stand-out from other automatic weapon archetypes
- LMG dispersion and recoil lowered to improve performance in sustained fire
- Additional improvements to recoil control for all weapons, more specifically automatic weapons.
- Increased close range damage and consistency of the MCS-880 when using Buckshot Shell or Flechette Shells
- Fixed a bug that caused bullets to be fired below the player’s aims for the SFAR-M GL and the K30
- Fixed a bug where vehicle weapons sometimes did not deal blast damage on a direct hit
- We’re reducing the Ground Vehicle 30mm Cannon effectiveness versus infantry. It now overheats faster, has a slightly reduced rate of fire and blast damage, and increased fall off damage at distance

- Kaleidoscope – Rooftop Capture Objective has been removed. There are now two Capture Objective at the bottom in BT large and one at the bottom in BT small
- Orbital – Rooftop Capture Objective has been removed. There is now a single Capture Objective at the bottom in BT large and BT small
- Hourglass – Rooftop Capture Objective has been removed. There is now a single Capture Objective at the bottom in BT large and BT small. Also fixed an issue where players were spawning out of bounds
- Improvements on back pedaling into objects when being in prone position
- Fixed a rare issue where players could turn invisible when spawning on a full/destroyed vehicle

New Battlefield 2042 leaks have suggested that a battle royale mode may be on its way, as information about development is revealed.

A renowned games leaker has released a bunch of new information concerning the development of Battlefield 2042, including the mention of a battle royale mode.
The latest leaks from a reliable source may just give fans and players an inside as to why Battlefield 2042 has struggled so much, and also what could be coming in the future.
As well as loads of information concerning Battlefield 2042’s development timeline, including the struggles and ultimate lack of time that was needed to release the game in a more stable state, Tom Henderson also revealed DICE’s plans for the future.
Of course, these are just leaks and nothing has been confirmed, but if the information Tom is providing is true, fans of battle royale games and the Battlefield franchise should be very excited.
According to the leaks, Battlefield’s next installment will be a “hero shooter,” with “bands of specialists/heroes fighting against each other and not armies.”
This type of format is very reminiscent of something like Overwatch or Apex Legends. The similarities become even more present considering the fact that Tom mentions Battlefield developers leaving the franchise due to EA’s plans to “copy what’s popular.”
Tom then reveals that “A BR will come in the near future, not next 6 months but vague timeframe.” This is very interesting, especially as it seemed the developers were going with Hazard Zone as their unique BR-like game mode.
We obviously don’t know whether these leaks and rumors about a Battlefield BR will ever come to fruition, and although EA may think it’s what players want, some comments say otherwise:
“I just don’t get it. They already have Apex. How does it make sense to modify an established money maker franchise to be basically the same as another franchise? It’s insane. Like, even if EA succeeded and turned BF into a profitable hero shooter, they would be cannibalizing Apex.”
