SALT LAKE CITY – Nashville SC midfielder and MLS veteran Dax McCarty has received a two-match suspension and an undisclosed fine for his actions against Bode Davis and Real Salt Lake late in last weekend’s game.
McCarty was sent off in the final minutes of Real Salt Lake’s 2-1 win over Nashville last weekend at Rio Tinto Stadium when he attempted to kick the football with his heel while Davis was lying on top of the ball. The referee immediately went to her back pocket and showed McCarty the red card who took his time leaving the field after a brief debate with the referee.
McCarty was also fined an undisclosed amount as mentioned above for violent conduct as well as failure to leave the field in a timely manner. His suspension means that he will miss out on fixtures against the Colombus Crew and Sporting Kansas City.
A day after the game, McCarty posted a video on his social pages apologizing for his actions. In the video, he admits to reaching out to Davis and apologizing which Davis accepted. However, the video portrays McCarty as very embarrassed and upset with himself.
