The Celtics are cruising at halftime, up 72-49 against a Grizzlies team resting all of their regular starters. A win would give Boston the No. 2 seed and a first-round matchup with the winner of the Nets/Cavs play-in game on Tuesday …

Nets will seek a win vs. Cavs for No. 7 seed in playoffs
Behind a career-high 16 assists from Kevin Durant, the Nets outlasted a scare from the Pacers and secured the seventh spot heading into the play-in tournament. Brooklyn will take on Cleveland at home on Tuesday for the chance to win the No. 7 spot in the East playoffs.

Trae Young vs. LaMelo Ball in East play-in game
With Atlanta beating Houston today — and the Nets beating the Pacers — that means we’ll be getting an exciting matchup between Trae Young and the Hawks against LaMelo Ball and the Hornets in one of the two East play-in games. With Atlanta holding the No. 9 spot, it’ll host the game on Wednesday.

Bucks await Celtics result to find out seeding
The Cavaliers closed out the Bucks on Sunday, and right now Milwaukee still holds a half-game lead over Boston. If the Celtics win against the Grizzlies later today, Milwaukee drops to No. 3 and will face the No. 6 Chicago Bulls in the first round. If Boston loses then the Bucks will stay second in the East and potentially face the Nets in the first round if Brooklyn secures the No. 7 spot through the play-in round.

Bam Adebayo enters health and safety protocols
Miami will be without Adebayo for the final game of the season against the Magic as he enters protocols. Luckily, as the No. 1 seed in the East and playoffs not starting until April 16, the Heat should have him back in time for the first round.

Celtics seeding implications
With the Bucks currently losing against the Cavaliers, and if the Sixers lose as Embiid & Harden are sitting, then a Celtics win against the Grizzlies later today would vault them up to No. 2 in the East. If the Celtics lose coupled with a Philadelphia loss, then they would be locked into the No. 3 spot and a first-round matchup with the Chicago Bulls. Getting the second seed may mean a potential first-round matchup against the Nets (if Brooklyn secures the No. 7 seed). I can imagine Boston would rather play the Bulls — a team they just beat by 23 points last week — than facing the duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in the first round.

A Sixers loss could mean first-round duel vs. Raptors
Interesting turn of events for Philadelphia. A loss today against the Pistons would lock the Sixers into the No. 4 spot and a first-round meeting with the Toronto Raptors. That means that Matisse Thybulle, who is unvaccinated, would be unable to play in the road games against the Raptors due to Canada’s vaccine mandate.

After building up a considerable lead against the Pacers early in this game, the Nets are now only up by seven points. K.D. putting on a passing clinic this afternoon, but Indiana isn’t making it easy for Brooklyn. With the Cavaliers and Hornets winning right now, if the Nets lose it would drop them to the No. 9 spot for the East play-in round.

Assuming Atlanta holds off Houston, the Rockets will clinch the NBA’s worst record for the second consecutive season. The bottom three teams all have identical lottery odds, and right now, that would be the Rockets, Magic and Pistons, but by virtue of their league-worst record, the Rockets could pick no lower than fifth in June’s draft.

Meanwhile, in Eastern Conference play-in news: Cleveland and Brooklyn’s impending victories lock in a Cavs-Nets 7 vs. 8 matchup. That leaves the Hawks and Hornets in the 9 vs. 10 game, but home-court advantage in that matchup is still up for grabs. The Hawks are in control against the Rockets. The Hornets are locked in a tight game with the Wizards. The Hornets would need a win and a Hawks loss to finish ninth, as Atlanta’s superior division record gives them the tiebreaker.

Best moment of the day: Jrue Holiday starts for the Bucks, commits a foul and then exits… $225,000 richer. He needed to suit up to meet the games played bonus criteria in his contract. That bonus will cost the Bucks several times more with the luxury tax factored in, but it’s well worth it to keep their star guard happy.
