ENCINITAS

Restaurant, nonprofit hold fundraiser Monday

Herb & Sea restaurant announces its long-term partnership with Wildcoast, an international nonprofit that conserves coastal and marine ecosystems. The partnership kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Herb & Sea, 131 D St., with a multi-course dinner, the Treasure Fish Feast. The evening begins with cocktails from Solento Tequila and tray-passed bites, followed by a five-course dinner using local treasure fish — lesser-known and non-targeted species caught in San Diego’s fisheries and often called “by-catch.” Wildcoast CEO Serge Dedina will be on hand with local scientists and fishermen to discuss Wildcoast’s mission and how to protect fisheries. Profits from the dinner will go toward funding Wildcoast’s efforts to conserve critical ecosystems. After this dinner, Herb & Sea will have a rotating Wildcoast Fresh Catch menu item, donating $5 from each dish sold. Tickets are $156 at https://bit.ly/36xAH4t.

Business, community resource expo Tuesday

The Encinitas Chamber of Commerce hosts a business and community resource expo from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Encinitas Community Center, 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive. This free public event, presented by Ting Internet, will showcase local businesses and organizations. Attendees can grab a drink and light bite, network with business leaders, and get acquainted with community services and vendors. More than 45 vendors are expected. SDG&E manager to speak at meeting

The Escondido Chamber of Commerce hosts an event with San Diego Gas & Electric’s regional public affairs manager, Joe Britton, at 4 p.m. Wednesday 3/23. The meeting is free and open to the public, and takes place at the chamber office at 720 N. Broadway. It’s also available via Zoom at https://bit.ly/3MY4xzT. NORTH COUNTY

Lunch and Learn program on CEQA

The San Diego North Economic Development Council hosts a Lunch and Learn program at noon March 30 at the Green Dragon Tavern in Carlsbad. The topic will be new issues around the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). A number of legislative and case law changes have occurred that will revise how environmental impact reports are prepared and evaluated. Daniel Brunton and Clif Williams from Latham and Watkins LLP will be presenting. The Green Dragon Tavern is at 6115 Paseo Del Norte. Cost for members is $35; nonmembers, $45. Credit union matching donations to Ukraine

North Island Credit Union has joined the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions to provide aid for Ukrainians, offering a $100,000 donation match for the organization’s Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund. Through the partnership, NICU will match every dollar donated at https://bit.ly/3Jp0WIO, up to $100,000, through April 30. The fund initially will direct support to immediate humanitarian needs triggered by Russia’s continued targeting of civilians.

Chamber mixer this week at The Hop Stop

Poway Chamber of Commerce members and nonmembers are invited to a mixer at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at The Hop Stop, 14055 Midland Road. Enjoy networking, food and drink, a Rollover Jackpot and more. Mixers are free for chamber members. Nonmembers and guests may attend one mixer free, after which the fee for nonmembers is $25. ‘Boochyard’ hosts grand opening Saturday

Local Roots Hard Kombucha opens its “Boochyard” tap room with a celebration from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday at 1430 Vantage Court, Suite 101. Cousins Ryan White and Joe Carmichael are the owners, brewers and operators. The all-day event will feature live music, giveaways and menu specials. The 7,500-square-foot taproom offers 30-plus flavors with core and experimental hard and nonalcoholic kombucha options. Cans, crowlers and growlers are available to go. The Boochyard also offers a full kitchen. The grand opening will showcase performances by the Zach Gutierrez Trio from noon to 3 p.m., Kiki (reggae) from 3 to 7 p.m., and San Elijo Hills locals The Tesoros from 7 to 10 p.m. Also debuting is Local Roots’ Can-for-a-Cause to benefit the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance. Earth Day Festival puts out call for vendors

Alta Vista Botanical Gardens is seeking vendors for its Earth Day Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 23. This is a free family event with kids’ activities, plants and food for sale, and other booths. The vendor application is now available at altavistabotanicalgardens.org under Events/Earth Day Festival. Vendor booth space is $40, payable by check or via PayPal. The PayPal link is on the website.
