Pacman enters gaming and esports scene through Team Pacquiao GG

Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao has ventured to the gaming and esports scene through the creation of his very own esports organization Team Pacquiao GG which was launched on Saturday, Dec 4.
Team Pacquiao GG has partnered with European esports organization Veloce Esports in hopes to become the ‘pound-for-pound esports heavyweight’ of Southeast Asia through community engagement, professional teams, content creation and charitable giving.
“The goal of Team Pacquiao is to elevate esports and gaming as a platform for inclusivity and positive change within the Philippines and Southeast Asia,” said Pacquiao who serves as the organization’s top executive.
“Together with Veloce, we develop team Pacquiao brand as a part of a long-term strategy to build the national esports gaming team of the Philippines that will compete across of all Asia and to conquer the world of Esports,” he added.
TPGG has also tapped five streamers and influencers to spearhead the cause under the Team Pacquiao banner led by well-known streamer Elyson “Ghost Wrecker” Caranza and veteran shoutcaster Shin Boo “Sh1nboo” Ponferrada.
Vlogger and streamer Gian Lois “Gloco” Concepcion, gamers and influencers Kimberlee “Super Kimbie” Arcillas and Een Mercado completed the cast.
Pacquiao’s son Michael, who plays Valorant and Mobile Legends, also graced the event.
Aside from its content creation arm, TPGG also aims to branch out to the competitive esports scene in the next few months as it forms its own professional teams in esports titles like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, League of Legends Wild Rift, Valorant, Call of Duty, Axie Infinity and Halo.
Pacquiao, who announced his retirement from boxing last September, sees the TPGG as a way to give back to the Filipinos who have supported him in his legendary 26 years as boxer.
“Community, competition and charity, these are what Team Pacquiao stands for. As I step away from boxing, I want to continue to give something back to our Filipino people who have given me so much support and love in my career as a boxer.”
Pacquiao isn’t new to the scene having worked with Moonton, developer of title Mobile Legends, as its brand ambassador in 2019.
