Ruth K. Jones, 89, of Heritage Village, formerly of South Dayton, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021.
Born Jan. 24, 1932, in Ellwood City, Pa., a daughter of the late Robert and Blanche Searfoss Kelly.
She was a graduate of Ellwood schools in 1949, received her bachelors degree in English from Roberts Wesleyan College in 1953, where she met her husband to be Richard, and a masters degree in English education from SUNY Fredonia.
Ruth was a middle school English teacher at Belfast, Salamanca, Pine Valley and then for 20 years at Little Valley Central School until her retirement in 1994. She also assisted her husband with the daily operation of the family horse farm, was a fulltime homemaker, devoted wife and mother who enjoyed supporting her children in their show horse competitions.
Ruth was a longtime member of the South Dayton Free Methodist Church.
Wife of 68 years to Richard A. Jones; mother of Suzanne (Dennis) O’Malley, Stephen Kent (Mary), Gregory Scott (Kristina) and the late Jonathan D. Jones; grand-mother of Jason (Erin), Justin (Hope), Tiffany, Christian, Garrett, Sarah and Ethan; great-grandmother of Richard, Lorelei and Ashley; sister of the late Bruce Kelly.
Funeral services are private. Burial in Gerry Cemetery.
